Renaming
[edit]Can you rename these files: File:Takuya Takahashi young.jpg - File:Takuya Takahashi (minister era).png (he was around 40-50 in the photo, so young is wrong), File:Takuya Takahashi sensei.png - File:Prof. Takuya Takahashi.png ("prof." is the Japanese to English translation for "sensei"), File:Emperor Showa inspection.jpg - File:Emperor Shōwa's inspection tour (1942).jpg, File:Letzel 1913.png - File:Commercial Exhibition Hall and Jan Letzel (cropped).png (the source title is better), File:Matsushima 1913.png - File:Commercial Exhibition Hall and Jan Letzel.jpg (the preview full version), File:Kokichi Otake group.jpg - File:Kazue Tomimoto and her husband with some friends.jpg (it's about Kazue Tomimoto and her husband with some friends, not Kazue herself), File:Saneatsu Mushanokoji 3.jpg - File:Saneatsu Mushanokōji in 1918.jpg (it's a cropped of File:Saneatsu Mushanokōji (1918).jpg). Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.47.39.185 (talk) 09:13, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm always waiting an answer from you. Please, can you rename them so it's closed? Thank you. 87.14.233.29 09:45, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, please be more patient. There is no rush to close renaming requests, and there is a reason that they have been denied earlier so I'll have a careful look at this. In some cases, such as the second one, a renaming may not be legitimate as it is just a switch of languages. Kind regards wuppertaler Post um 09:51, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, but don't forget it when you can. 87.4.40.216 10:19, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

- Hello and thank you for your patience. I renamed the first, third, and seventh file, but slightly adjusted the new names according to the source files. I did not rename the second file as a mere change of languages is not legitimate; the fifth file has an ongoing deletion request and hence cannot be renamed; I do not have enough linguistic understanding for the sixth file, and I will have another look at the fourth file another time as there are additional people shown and not just Letzel. Kind regards wuppertaler Post um 22:51, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, but can you delete those three unless redirects? For the sixth, it's a photo published in the back cover of the book for the source, so you can rename it as ["Woman of Bluestocking: a biography of Otake Kōkichi" back cover]. For the second, it's better "Takuya Takahashi (1848-1935)". 79.51.236.103 09:09, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I kept the redirects on purpose and they should not be deleted unless there is a reason to do so. Images may be used outside of the Wikimedia projects, so deleting the redirects would mean that there is no link anymore to Wikimedia. As for the second file, the additional data are given in the description so I think that this is sufficient for now, as the title has been made less ambiguous (with information from the original source). As for the sixth file, the current title seems more specific. Is there any more specific information in that said book? wuppertaler Post um 11:52, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- Those three redirects are all orphans, so you can delete them as useless. For the second could be well "Prof. Takuya Takahashi (1848-1935)", while for the sixth "Tomimoto couple with some friends". For the fifth return here soon after the deletion of the other one. 79.51.236.103 12:08, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- We do not know that. The images may not be used within Wikimedia, but outside of Wikimedia. A redirect does not hurt anyone and ensures that external links can still be used, so they should not be removed. As for the sixth file, please provide a reasonable verification. As for the second one, such a back-and-forth renaming is not advisable and the current title is neither more nor less ambiguous than the proposed one so I suggest we keep it like that. wuppertaler Post um 10:56, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
- Fo the sixth, you can read the summary or the source. Then, can you rename it? Thank you. ~2025-35170-56 (talk) 13:32, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

- No, stop with violating Wikimedia Commons, or I will request a block for you. - Inertia6084 (talk) (talk) 14:11, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
